Insight Lane: Field of dreams

Life is good.

At the end of all line of thoughts, it comes down to this one single sentence.
I have been in Australia for more than three months now and I have consequently met a throng of people, every single one of them having their own little dream that they believed in.
A few were petty dreams, other ambitious ones, others still had nothing to do with their stay in Australia.
This field of dreams that expanded in front of everyones eyes, that stretched on for so long did not include, however, immediate action.

And so it has to be said: Backpackers are an odd assemblage of people, consisting on the one hand out of people who have travelled around the world in order to indulge in thinking and who have developed a distinct form of lethargy. This might sound harsh at first but it shows the process many people go through:
Being away from home leaves a void in your daily routine, no question, and when it comes to fill that void many try to do that by corresponding with home, consequently missing out on many things that happen around them. They get so absorbed with their problems that they do not attempt to solve them. THese people have dreams about their homes, dreams that are far away...

The second group of people usually encountered are the party-goers. They are open-minded, live life on a day-to-day basis and are quite vigorous on the job-market. These people are generelly happy, and have dreams about the night, or about their trip through Australia, naturally focusing on the clubs that you can go to. Dreams that are very immediate, very haptic...

And then there is a third group of travellers, positioned not quite in between the other two groups, but more aside: Those people are usually couples or graduate students who exactly know what they need and want and who are straightforward in achieving it while not putting too great an emphasis on partying. They usually do not have dreams as such, although they might phantasize about the time after the trip. They are the ones who are living their dream...

Being unhappy and lethargic seems to be the popular way out today, as it quickly gains pity from others, but working and living your dreams holds the key to exploring yourself.

Get up, and enter the field of dreams.

Life is good, after all
